Work with me

How Can I Help?

Each engagement opens with a free scoping conversation. I'll tell you which tier you need — and if you don't need one at all, I'll tell you that too.

Audience seated in rows of beige chairs at a conference or event, with a woman in the foreground looking at her phone, a stage with a potted plant visible in the background.

Annual Report

I write and produce your report.
You do not have to.

This is a done-for-you engagement, not a training session or a template package. Working from your financial statements, your donor records, and interviews with your leadership, I build the entire document: the narrative arc, the executive director and board chair letters, the program sections, the impact stories, and a financial presentation reconciled to your Form 990 and understandable to a donor. I build the donor honor roll myself and verify every name. I manage the designer, the production calendar, and a proofreading protocol built to catch donor name errors before they print. You provide records and approve two rounds of review.

Nonprofit Startup Consulting

From the idea to a functioning, compliant organization.

We begin with the question most consultants skip — whether a new 501(c)(3) is the right vehicle at all. If you proceed, you receive a startup and eighteen-month operating budget covering the costs founders routinely miss, a mission statement written to guide decisions, a formation sequence and compliance checklist including every state charitable registration you'll owe before soliciting a gift, a full board development package, financial controls, and a written succession plan. Everything arrives as a launch plan with a dated timeline.

Fundraising Plan Creation

A goal derived from your pipeline, not your budget gap.

It begins with a written readiness assessment scoring your organization across the five prerequisites: a functioning database, a real history of donor relationships, a tested case for support, board members who are genuine fundraising partners, and adequate staff. From there I analyze three years of giving history, calculate your retention rate, and build a gift range chart showing how many prospects each level requires. You receive a twelve-month plan with a derived goal, a year-end appeal sequence, a moves management process, a stewardship plan, a month-by-month calendar with named responsibilities, and quarterly benchmarks.

Sally Ruecking and two colleagues in business attire engaged in a meeting around a table with documents, a laptop, and a white mug; the blonde woman is speaking and gesturing while the other woman listens attentively and smiles.

As a CFRE I don't accept percentage-based or commission compensation on funds raised, in keeping with the AFP Code of Ethical Standards.

A reality check

"Is anyone else at this organization working for free? Highly unlikely."

On why fundraisers get asked to work on commission, and why the AFP Code says no.
